Kilokhri

Kilokhri
   A satellite township established on the bank of the Ya-muna River about 6.5 kilometers northwest of Delhi (Qila' Rai Pithura) sometime during Iltutmish's reign (1211-1236). In 1259, Nasir al-Din Mahmud Shah (1246-1266) received Huleku's envoy at Kilokhri. Sultan Muizz al-Din Kaiqubad (1287-1290) formally shifted his residence to this new township. But after the building of fortified townships like Siri, Jahanpanah, and Tughlaqabad in the vicinity of Delhi in the first half of the 14th century, Kilokhri gradu-ally lost its importance.
